Basically, the writer of the article The Great Corn Con wants to look at the entire thing with a general view. Which there is nothing wrong with it, but should be considered. The government has done a good thing, which has not really been seen since Great Depression- it gave farmers a voice in government plans. The problem however, as the article explains, is that it is focused on ONE crop and it just so happens to be one of the unhealthiest ones out there.
A good solution would be to invest money into more than just one crop as it would influence the industry to look into more options, compared to attempting to overuse corn in as many products as possible. For example, the diesel engine was originally invented to use with vegetable oil back in the early 1900s. Why not pursue the idea instead of enthanol? Research is new and it is understandable that mistakes will be made, thinking that the idea could literally be the next big thing. That's just how businesses and politics work.
